“I believe Art connects the mind and soul, though the eyes, offering a mental, emotional or spiritual experience for each individual as they behold the work. I combine two elements sand & gesso and then harness the light to illuminate shape & shadows of the hidden scenes with in the Art” .
Inspired at a young age by the love of the old buildings in Winnipeg’s Exchange District, Rosemary Miguez evolved from sketching these historical structures, to watercolour studies. Finally a creation of her own, a combination of Sand and Gesso creating mono-chromatic explorations on the canvas. She now works primarily in this medium out of her Up-stairs Studio in Whytewold MB, where her paintings harness the light to illuminate shadow, revealing the hidden history or story within each piece.
